Another State to Ban Use of Cell Phones in Cars
Friday, March 12, 2010
Posted in the Herald.net a bill to ban the use of cell phones for the state of Washington. This applies to both
voice and text cell phone usage.
This used to be a secondary offense, meaning a driver could not be pulled over if they were talking on the
phone. The new bill makes this a primary offense. If you are seen on the phone you can be pulled over and fined up
to $124.
In addition, the bill bans the use of all cell phones for licensed drivers under 18, even if they are using a
headset. If approved by the Governor, the new laws will take effect in June.
